先日５月２１日は金冠日食でしたね。日本全国、日食についての話題で持ち切りでした。
私達も朝、眠気眼で窓辺で観察をしましたよ！感動的でした。
そんな時、私の実家では、もうひとつの感動があったようです。
The past day, 21st of May was the eclipse day in Japan. The whole country was talking about it. We also saw with heavy eyelids the eclipse in the morning by the window. It was so exciting!
At that same time, there is other impressive news that happened in my family home.
私の兄が、当日誕生日だった彼女にプロポーズをしたそうです。 良い返事をもらえたようで、私達家族も一安心。 長く付き合っていたから、「結婚するだろう」という思いの他、「いやいや・・男女は分からないものだからなぁ・・・」という思いと、「そのまま～～のらり・・」といくんじゃないかと、私も素振りは見せずとも、心配はしていたので、ケジメをつけた兄と彼女に拍手です。
My brother proposed to his girlfriend, it was her birthday. We (my family) were relieved because she accepted the marriage proposal. They were seeing for long time so we were thinking that 'They will marry' but, otherwise 'uuuummmm, never knows about men-women relationship' or "keep up this for long without marriage". I didn't show them but I was concerned about them. So I gave applause to them.
私の兄は彫金師です。プロポーズには、金冠日食をモチーフにした指輪を制作し、プレゼントしたそうです。黒い石（なんだか忘れた）をゴールドで囲い、胴の部分は写真では見ずらいですが、木目金でつくられています。木目金とは金、銀、銅を貼り合わせ叩きこみ、木目状に模様を創りだしていく日本独特の技法です。私のこの結婚指輪もこの木目金技法で兄に頼み作ってもらいました。
My brother is a chaser. He made the ring proposal in the motif of eclipse. It holds a black stone with gold and made body part with mokumegane (wooden pattern style. Mokumegane is one of Japanese heritages by using gold, silver. copper etc. Stick them together and test to create wooden pattern. Actually, our marriage rings are also made by my brother with mokumegane style.
私の結婚の際には、いろんな準備を手伝ってくれた兄。私も何か恩返しできるようにしなくては・・・。
日程はまだ決まっていないようですが、今から楽しみです。
やはり家族の幸せは、なによりのハッピーニュースです。

I was helped for the preparation for my wedding. So I'm happy to give him back something for his wedding. I'm so excited for it, even though they haven't decided the date yet.
That would be a best happy news for family happiness.
